多光子显微镜(MPM)非常适合nctional imaging deeper into biological tissues than what is possible with confocal microscopy. This imaging technique is commonly used in intravital imaging of healthy and diseased tissues and cells, with or without fluorescent labeling. Recent advances in multiphoton microscopy technology support fast, in vivo imaging with single-cell resolution and a large field of view. Integration of optogenetics with multiphoton imaging has opened new avenues in studying the computational performance of the brain in live animals.
